The highlight of the island is hands down, its exotic beaches. It has over 60 beaches in total and the best ones are located on the southern part of the island. Among the most beautiful ones are Koukounaries, Lalaria and Banana. The last one is particularly popular with the young crowds, thanks to the water sports facilities and legendary beach parties.

Skiathos Attractions

The most interesting site is probably the Medieval Castle of Skiathos, accessible by tour boat, and the Museum of Papadiamantis, an important Greek writer who was originating from this island.

The Castle

It is a breathtaking location in the north side of the island. It was built during the times Skiathos was being attacked by vicious pirates.

Monastery of Virgin Mary

It is located in the northeast side of the island. It is the only active monastery. Inside the monastery there is a museum of musical instruments.

The Old Medieval Town

Spend an evening walking around the island, visit the Old Town with its narrow, pebbled streets and see the remaining traditional mansions.

Papadiamanti Museum

Skiathos was the birthplace of famous 19th-century Greek novelist and short-story writer Alexandros Papadiamantis.

St.Nicolas

The Church of Agios Nikolaos with its famous clock is another attraction from where travelers enjoy magnificent views of the entire island.

Bourtzi Island

Bourtzi is a tiny peninsula that divides the Skiathos port into two distinct parts. It used to be a fort, built by the Gizi brothers in 1207.
